Upper Egypt

Upper Egypt is known to be called the Ta Shem-Au.  This area was dived into twenty-two different types of areas called a "Nome" which are considered to be villages.  The first Nome that was ever established is roughly situated where modern Aswan is the twenty-second was at modern Atfih, just south of Cairo.  Upper Egypt is considered to be a narrow strip of land that extends from the cataract boundaries of modern-day Aswan.  This went all the way from modern day Cairo to the area south of Egypt.  History describes Upper Egypt’s land was isolated from events to the north.  From around the time of 800 BC to 525 BC, the area was ruled by the High Priestess of Amon.  Many contrasts between Upper and Lower Egyptians in the ancient world happened.  They spoke different languages, and different holidays and traditions, essentials, and interests.  Many of these differences from ancient times still have and effect or cause tensions which exist today.  The patron goddess of the Ancient Upper Ancient Egypt is Nekhbet.

Lower Egypt

Lower Egypt is actually the northern part of Egypt from south of Cairo to the Nile Delta at Alexandria.  Lower Egypt’s landscape is conquered by the Nile delta at Alexandria.  The delta region is well vegetated, crossed over by channels and canals.  Because of thee marshy landscapes, many mosquitoes make this area their home and they can become a nuisance to the people.  The climate temperatures within Lower Egypt are a little cooler than ones of Upper Egypt.  This is because of the temperatures are much milder here, there is much more rainfall in this area.  The customs of Lower Egypt are based upon those have originated from Upper Egypt.  Even in modern times, Lower Egypt is influenced by trade with the rest of the world countries.
